Fall is my favorite time of year for many reasons but in the Interior Design community, we look forward to fall knowing that all the big names in color will be announcing the Color of the Year for the upcoming year. Regardless of whether or not I like to use these colors in my designs or in my personal home they always forecast what we will see in the coming months as far as trends in our industry we will start to see textiles, area rugs, and accessories all incorporating these color trends over the next 6 months.
This year's arguably the 2 largest names in the paint community Sherwin Williams and Benjamin Moore both selected colors from a similar family. While the Raspberry Blush from Benjamin Moore is far for vibrant than Redend Point from Sherwin Williams they clearly both stem from the red family. Further proving our point that warm colors are back on the design scene. Clients are craving a warm inviting space full of richness and character and gone are the days of sterile interior spaces.
The main question is how can you incorporate these trends into your home without simply painting your walls this color?
It is much easier thank you think. When I think of Redend Point I think of Terra Cotta pots and artisan-made stoneware sprinkled into your main living space or a chunky rust-toned throw at the end of your bed to cozy up the bedroom. The simplicity of this color means it still pairs well with some of my favorites like soft green and natural wood tones. See how our Design team combined these colors in their recent award-winning showcase home in the guest room to create a warm and inviting space that makes you want to curl up and enjoy a good book.
Benjamin Moore sought out a different vibe when they selected Raspberry Blush as their Color of the Year quoted as saying “built to envelop you in vivacious color.” I think it is safe to say their goal was to have a bit more fun and create a lively space with a splash of personality. Fun ways to incorporate this are through artwork and area rugs where personality can really shine through. This color still pairs so well with the brass accents, creamy-toned walls, and blush pink accents.
